The Spring program has been proven effective over the years both for native English-speaking children and for those with another mother tongue. In this unique environment, the English-speaking child learns one foreign language while reinforcing comprehension of English vocabulary, grammar, reading and writing. If the child speaks another language, he will be taught in English while receiving reinforcement in his native tongue. He will also learn to express himself in English through writing, and will learn to read as well as write in his "new" language.
The Montessori classroom is fully bilingual, with English and the second language of the classroom being spoken parallel to one another. The Montessori teacher speaks English with the children, while the Assistant, who is a native (or native-fluency) speaker of the target language of the class, communicates with them solely in the second language. Your child will also participate in a daily "total immersion" class with the Foreign Language Teacher, and those who stay for lunch have additional foreign language conversation during lunchtime. |
